Learn More About the Paragon HDX Tripod

Is the Paragon XHD Tripod Right for You?

The Paragon XHD Tripod is a heavy-duty field tripod that is perfect for night sky and outdoors enthusiasts looking for a solid foundation for their optics. The fluid smooth panning head and quick-release 1/4”-20 dovetail shoe make this tripod an especially great option for large binoculars and spotting scopes. This tripod is not an ideal option for users with larger optical systems, such as reflectors and refractor telescopes. It offers a fully manual design, which is great for tracking fast-moving targets, such as birds, meaning it's not an ideal choice for anyone looking for automated tracking.

Why It Works

Designed to handle large binoculars, spotting scopes, cameras, and smaller telescopes with ease, the Paragon-Plus XHD Tripod provides rock-solid support for your optics. The integrated fluid panhead delivers smooth, controlled motion for precise tracking, while the adjustable aluminum legs ensure stable positioning on various terrains. It features tension adjustment knobs on both axes for wonderfully smooth, controlled altazimuth motion. The pan head can be raised or lowered on its aluminum rack-and-pinion elevator post with a hinged hand crank.

What You Should Know Before You Buy

Is the Paragon HDX Tripod portable?

Yes. Weighing less than 10 pounds, this tripod is both portable and easy to set up.

Can the Paragon HDX Tripod automatically track objects?

No. The Paragon HDX Tripod is a fully manual system that offers smooth "fluid-like" motion control. It doesn't automatically track objects; however, the manual controls are incredibly smooth, providing a great foundation for binoculars and high magnification sport optics.

Is the Paragon HDX Tripod good for beginners?

Yes! The Paragon HDX Tripod is great for both beginners and experienced observers. The straightforward design and durable construction provide an ideal foundation for scanning expansive scenery, tracking fast-moving wildlife, and exploring the night sky.

Does the Paragon HDX Tripod require additional accessories?

The Paragon XHD Tripod is a complete system, including everything you need to get started. An optional accessory to include with your tripod is a standard binocular adapter. Vibration suppression pads can provide additional stability, especially when viewing at higher magnifications. Finally, supplemental accessories such as a star chart or viewing guide will help you locate and learn more about objects in our night sky.

Is the Paragon HDX Tripod compatible with binoculars and sport optics?

The Paragon HDX Tripod comes with a quick-release dovetail shoe, making it easy to attach your gear. The 1/4”-20 standard mounting stud is compatible with a wide range of gear; however, some equipment, such as binoculars, will require additional adapters to work with this tripod.
