Learn More About the StarBlast 102 mm AZ Refractor

Is the StarBlast 102 mm AZ Travel Refractor Right for You?

The StarBlast 102 mm AZ Travel Refractor is designed for beginners who are looking for a portable system with everything needed to start exploring the night sky right away. This beginner-friendly refractor is not designed for astrophotography, although, with a simple smartphone adapter (not included), you can easily capture quick photos and videos of your observations. Due to the 102 mm aperture, it doesn't perform well on dim deep sky targets under light-polluted skies, and the 600 mm focal length does not provide enough magnification to resolve surface details of the planets.

What You'll See and Why It Works

The 102 mm AZ Travel Refractor features multi-coated optics with enhanced light transmission, a 102 mm (4.02″) aperture, and 600 mm focal length at a focal ratio of f/5.9. With the two included 1.25" Plossl eyepieces, you will enjoy exceptional views of our Moon, bright deep sky targets, such as the Orion Nebula (M42), and star clusters. Thanks to the 90° correct-image diagonal, this telescope is also a capable daytime spotting scope, producing upright and correctly oriented views of landscapes and distant terrestrial subjects. It also comes with a compact red dot finder that makes it easy to locate and center targets in the telescope's eyepiece. The telescope comes with a compact alt-azimuth style mount and tripod with a smooth panning handle, sturdy adjustable steel legs, and a convenient accessory tray. All these accessories will fit neatly alongside the tripod and telescope OTA in the included travel bag.
