Color eyepiece filters enhance subtle details on the planets, comets, and the Moon by selectively increasing the contrast between markings of different hues. This affordable 1.25" Orion Basic Set of Four Color Filters includes our most popular color planetary telescope eyepiece filters: #15 Deep Yellow, #25 Red, #58 Green, and #80A Medium Blue. These filters are vat-dyed for even color coating and then anti-reflection coated for maximum transmission. The eyepiece filter cells are made of anodized aluminum and are double-threaded to permit filter stacking. A protective plastic filter case in included.

1.25-inch Set of Four Color Telescope Filters

As a relatively new, amateur astronomer, I had yet to view the polar caps on Mars. As of February, 2010, with Mars apparent size shrinking each day, I knew I needed something to help. So I called Orion. The technicial suggested the 1.25-inch set of fourcolor telescope filters. These were relatively inexpensive, compared to other filter sets. My filters arrived in less than one week and that night, I waited anxiously for Mars. I began viewing without a filter and the planet was too bright to see any detail. Then I tried the different filters. Green was my ticket. I clearly saw the polar cap through my Xt-8 Classic Dob. These filters gave me a leg up on a fleeting opportunity. I can hardly wait for Jupiter to come around in the evening, so that I can check out the bands and the great red spot. Thanks, Orion. Tom Seymour Waldo, Maine

Works just as they say. the big thing is waiting for good seeing......all of a sudden that night will be there and it all comes together. You can't swith out your fillters fast enough.

Reasonably priced filters of excellent quality and fit. I have not yet had the chance to evaluate them for several different situations, the sky has been continually overcast. I did try each filter on Mars under fair conditions and could see that they do deliver contrast improvements. I am looking forward to improving conditions and fully expect excellent performance.
