Dielectric coatings are more durable than enhanced aluminum coatings, so you'll enjoy years of exceptional performance. The machined and anodized aluminum housing features machine-threaded baffles for high contrast and a nonmarring compression ring collar for securing the eyepiece. This 2" model has a 1.25" adapter to accept 1.25" telescope eyepieces. Nosepiece barrel is threaded to accept filters. Endcaps included.

Coatings

Lenses are coated with an antireflective material to ensure that as little light as possible is reflected away, so more gets to your eye. Good lenses are at least "fully coated," with a single layer of magnesium fluoride applied to each air-to-glass lens surface. Multiple layers of coatings are even more effective; the term "multi-coated" means one or more lens surfaces have multiple coatings. "Fully multi-coated" is even better, meaning that all lens surfaces are multiple-layer coated. Mirror star diagonals are coated with a reflective material similar to telescope mirrors in order to reflect the light into the eyepiece. Standard aluminum coatings reflect between 88%-92%, and enhanced aluminum reflects 97%. Dielectric coatings use a different process to deposit a coating that reflects 99% of the light. In addition to the higher reflectivity, Dielectric coatings are much more durable than aluminum coatings, so they last longer and can be cleaned with less risk of damage.

Instead of a single thumb screw locking the eyepiece in place, a brass ring compressed by a thumb screw secures the eyepiece. This spreads clamping force over a larger area of the eyepiece's barrel, which provides a better connection. The compression ring also prevents the tip of the thumb screw from producing unsightly scratches and divots on the eyepiece barrel.

The Diagonal is as good as any high end Diagonal on the market and for a much better value. Good, Clean, Crisp, and Clear Reflectivity. Nice that it has the 1.25" adapter for it. Works great in any scope.

I bought this to complete my Orion 120mm ST Refractor that I got as a gift for christmas. I was looking at the standard 2 inch diagonal, but went with the dielectric because of the enhanced quality and the compression ring instead if the simple screw lock. It was a little more but I think I made the right choice. I was able to reach focus on all my eyepieces except an older Orion 5mm kellner. I have a 2 inch 26mm Q70, 1.25 inch sirius plossl 32,25,10 and 7.5mm. I also have a 3mm Long eye relief. This diagonal provides a very nice image with little degradation. A must for any 2inch refractor focuser!!!

This Diag makes the image much clearer than the one that came with my telescope. Images are crisper for sure !!!
