The 2" Orion UltraBlock Narrowband Telescope Filter is the filter for deep-sky observers located at highly light-polluted sites. Blocks all forms of light pollution — mercury vapor and sodium emission bands — while passing the critical hydrogen-beta and ionized oxygen wavelengths. With an UltraBlock telescope filter, emission and planetary nebulas "surface" from the washed out background sky. In dark skies, the UltraBlock also enhances the sky presence of a significant number of fainter deep-sky objects over unfiltered and wideband-filtered views.

I have to say that I am very impressed with how the filter works. The Orion Nebula was revealed in great detail with it's use. I used it with the Q70 2" eyepiece set on the 12" Orion Truss Dob. Other wise it's a blurry blob without it here in the big city. I'm looking forward to using it in the future. I also have a 1.25" of the same. Can't wait to check it out with my Starblast 6. Thanks Orion!

It's a bit pricey but you'll have this the rest of your life. Well that's what I tell my wife. It does all they say. Im in so so sky's and it does help the orion nebula pop. That's all it has to do in my book any other help is just gravy.

This was my first filter purchase, after many long hours of reading reviews of UHC filters and prices, I saw that Orion had this one on sale. I use this filter on the Q70 series Eyepieces and also on the Orion Percision centering adapter 1.25 size. With this set up I can use it on my 2in and 1.25 Eyepieces and save money. It screws into both perfect and I have enough clearance for a TV 2X barlow (1.25) on the Centering Adapter. I first viewed it on the Ring Nebula (now my daughter's favorite) the Swan Nebula was awesome along with the Dumbbell Neb. It really does make a difference, cant wait for winter- Orion's Nebula!
