Brightness wheel sets the desired intensity, from dim to bright. Runs on one replaceable 9-volt alkaline battery (included). Just 4-1/2" long, with 20" lanyard. Great for looking at star charts, finding that small piece of equipment, checking over your equipment. Won't blind anyone near you.

Favorite object to observe:??Saturn, Jupiter, deep space, etc.
Pros: won't night blind you, helps to see charts and maps

I would prefer a little extra brightness for both the red and white lights. Overall, easy to handle and user friendly.
Favorite viewing location:??Prude Ranch in Fort Davis, Texas (near McDonald Observatory)
Favorite object to observe:??several nebula
Pros: just the right size, user friendly
Cons: slightly dim

Changing the battery fix......

The light is better than OK. Works great till you have to change the battery. I could not get the spent battery out of the light case. The fix was to drill a small hole next to the halyard attachment loop and use a paper clip to push the whole unit out of the housing. Easy fix.........

Not all that great, to be honest

For a $30 flashlight, I would have expected a product that didn't have the look and feel of a homemade craft project. It operates fine, but the controls lack efficiency - it's a real pain to turn the light on/off using the scroll wheel, which is difficult and cumbersome to use. The switch controls the white/red aspect of the light, which is all too easy to accidentally switch and ruin one's (or many's) night vision.
