I purchased this because most flashlights waste batteries like it is their (expletive) job!! and it proved to be very useful. I don't have to waste time hunting for batteries. They could have featured a cell phone adapter for my LG. However, this is a must for anybody

Great little LED light. A good charge can last all night and no worries if it runs out...simply wind up for about 45-60 seconds and get 10 to 15 minutes of light.

After years of lugging around a full sized flashlight with 2 "D" cell batteries and a red lens, I thought I would give the Orion RedBeam SP Self-Powered LED Flashlight a try. I should have bought two! The unit never needs batteries, has two intensity levels, one for finding your way and one for studying charts. It is flat so won't roll away or off your table, and will fit easily in your pocket. Highly recommended, although a bit pricey for a "flashlight"
Favorite viewing location:??Maine
Favorite object to observe:??M13 globular cluster in Hercules
Pros: lightweight, compact and flat, no batteries
Cons: a bit pricey

I like the concept, but after > 1 yr of use, I've never found the crank very useful. Just could never get enough power into it to by cranking alone. I found myself cranking it continuously for light. But use the included USB cord to get it fully charged, then it runs fine. I can also power/charge it directly from my laptop, which is great. Would like to see the "low" setting use only One LED, instead of three. Three LEDs is often too bright. Then it should get 3x the run time!
Yes, I recommend this product!
