My first telescope was a Sears & Robucks, yes it had both names then, 60mm refractor given to me by my parents when I was 12 in 1971. I have been hooked every since then. I took a twenty year break while I was in the military. After the Military I had the time to get back into astronomy. I chose Orion products and have never regretted that decision. The best aspect of today's astronomy for me is video. I have several video cameras and they are what spends the majority of time in my telescopes. I got into CCD imaging in the last couple of years and have both the color and Mono versions of the G3 CCD camera. Orion has done a great job in providing started CCD cameras including software that works very well. Mono is my preferred type of capture which is why I still use a StellaCam III video camera today and the new G3 Mono From orion. Clear Skies, Johnny

Notes: This photo of M57 is a single 60 second capture. The capture area is my light polluted driveway with a fully lit school across the street. The excellent contrast is from using the 180mm MCT. These scopes are known for their high contrast views. The sharpness of this photo clearly shows the central star. The G3 Mono is simply a wonderful CCD Camera. This camera will provide years of capturing the wonders of our night skies.
