Solid support for small astronomical telescopes, Orion's EQ-1 mount now features center-hinged leg braces for quicker setup and collapsing of the tripod. New, high-wall accessory tray attaches with just three wing screws — no washers or nuts to fumble with. With dual slow-motion controls, 360° azimuth adjustment, and adjustable aluminum tripod, the EQ-1 makes stargazing easy. Hands-free tracking is available with the optional computerized EQ-1M electronic drive system. Weighs 11.9 lbs.

To attach instruments equipped with a 1/4"-20 threaded socket, our 1/4"-20 Adapter (10103) is required.

This mount is very well built and very steady for smaller scopes. I've viewed Jupiter and its moons,our moon and several other objects. The slow motion controlls are excellent. There can't be a better mount for the price! Thanks again Orion!

This mount is easy to use and easy to track celestial objects with. Although very stable it is also very fragile.

Functional Review After 3 Weeks of Use

This mount functions correctly as an EQ mount (aligning via setting circles and tracking). However, within two-three weeks of use the latitude circle came off and it is not as stable as I would like. It handles the Orion 80mm Short Tube Refractor, but that is the limit of what I (imho) would recommend. Fine adjustments using the slow motion controls cause shaking even on anti- vibration pads. The EQ-1 mount came with a telescope, so I am not complaining. I would, nonetheless, be cautious when considering purchasing this item as a stand-alone product. I will replace this mount soon and in hindsight should have bought the OTA and mount separately.

Orion EQ-1 Equatorial Telescope Mount

I originally got the Min EQ-1 mount when I bought my Apex 90 Mak Cass. Very portable and easy transporting around. But I decided I also needed one I could stand on the ground. So I stuck with the EQ-1 mount only with the tripod set up. Whether Tabletop or Tripod this mount is very stable and well built and suits my Apex 90,Short tube 80 and Starblast 4.5 Imaging Reflector. Thank You For Everything Orion!
