Expanse oculars have big eye lenses and great eye relief (13mm to 17mm). Eyeglass wearers can view the entire field without removing their glasses. All eyepiece elements are fully coated, with the outer lens multi-coated for additional light transmission. Each 1.25" aluminum barrel is threaded for filters and internally blackened to eliminate internal scattering. And their fold-down rubber eyeguards enhance contrast by blocking stray light.

wide field of view!

I added this set of eyepieces to my previous collection of plossl eyepieces of similar focal lengths, for use with a 5 inch schmidt cassegrain telescope. The wider field of view with the expanse eyepieces makes a big difference. You can see more stars in a star cluster, more of a diffuse nebula, more craters on the moon, Jupiter and all four moons in one field of view, etc. And the images are bright and crisp. I find that I mostly use the 20, 15, and 9 mm expanse eyepieces. At higher magnifications (i.e. shorter focal lengths), plossl eyepieces give slightly sharper images, albeit with a smaller field of view.

Just got the 4 piece set of Orion Expanse Eyepieces, i compared them side by side to my celestron sirius plossl eye piece set also sold on this site in my 80mm refractor and my 114mm reflector. Observed much wider field of view in comparison. I recomendthese eyepieces highly they blow my plossl's away.

I ordered this eyepiece kit a month ago, and was disappointed to find scratches on the lenses. other then that, the quality is pretty good. the 20mm and 15mm are great, but the 9mm and 6mm are so so. I have a 120mm refractor, and the views using the 20 and 15mm are crisp and clear, perfect for star clusters and nebula. the 9 and 6mm would be better if it wasn't so difficult to line up the visual zone(black edges protrude), but the images are still crisp none the less. all in all, i would say this is a good buy for someone looking to pursue a wide variety of celestial objects for a cheap price.
