Great Value

I recently purchased the 38 mm Q70 for my XT8. My first couple of outings with it were very pleasant with spectacular views of the Pleiades and M42. The view of M42 was particularly fine -- you can view the entire sword with the nebula a lovely rosette in the middle. The only thing that I noticed is that there is a bit of loss of edge sharpness but with the comfort of using the the eyepiece, the big view and the price -- it is an excellent value.

The 2" Q70 Wide-Field eyepiece set are a very nice addition to my ever expanding eyepiece collection. As with the Orion Stratus eyepieces the Q70's are just as easy to compare to other higher end priced eyepieces. Great eye relief, quality equipment, and fantastic views. Very easy to handle and maintain. I use them in my larger telescopes.
Favorite viewing location:??Central Ohio

almost don't need a finder with this eyepiece with a 2 degree field of view, can view the entire Pleiades, coathanger cluster, m31. Stars are blurry on the edge of field. Very heavy eyepiece, watch out for balance problems on a dobsonian.
Pros: widefield beatiful deep space view
Cons: heavy

This eyepiece performed very well on deep sky objects with my C-11 HD, at f/10, providing almost a full degree actual field of view. Contrast and eye relief are excellent and stars appear sharp almost to the edge of field, though not quite. As expected, performance was not as impressive with shorter f-ratio instruments but still quite acceptable. All in all a great bang for the buck.
